Christmas Eve 2020

What a year it's been.  We've been so busy doing nothing that we didn't get anything done.  No one thought the pandemic would go on this long, but it has, and here we are, on our own for Christmas.  Not that we haven't been alone for Christmas before, but it feels different this year -- because we can't be with anyone else.

I haven't seen my dad in over a year.  I haven't seen my mom since June.  Many others are in the same boat.

And the country has been out of sorts.  So many people have lost jobs; we've had a civil rights movement, we've had an election to vote out a maniacal president.  it's been exhausting.

But, at the same time, we have our health, I have my job, and we live in a beautiful place.  Even with the pandemic, we have been able to socialize and play golf with other people because, well truth be told, we live in a bubble.  We may not be the wealthiest, but we are privileged.

So, what were the highlights of the year?

Well, I helped Dad publish his first book, Essentials of Macroeconomics with Moral Dilemma Commentary, now available on Amazon.

We also got Chris' book (nearly) published -- Is That You Grampa, Story of a British Dalliance.

I am sure both will be blockbusters.

I published an article called "When Can We Hug Again?" I think I'll post it on my Toil and Trouble Blog.

I did sneak away to Acadia national park in August for a Backroads Bike Trip -- it helped my sanity more than I thought it would.  Rob also went up to Columbia a few times and his buddies came here.  It's the little things that matter.

I formed an investment club for a group of women here at Colleton River, called Uptick.  So far, we are in the black, and have made about $3,000 in 6 months.

I lost 35 pounds!!!  That was my personal accomplishment.  I am now committed to keeping it off!

We read some books, we played a lot of golf, and I am really grateful that Rob went an entire year without a single hospital visit.

All we can do now is hope for more fun in '21.
